Pastor Anthony E. Houston

Pastor Anthony E. Houston, Sr. is the Senior Pastor and Founder of Abundant Life Tabernacle in Detroit, Michigan.  Abundant Life Tabernacle is a growing and thriving body of believers with a focus on family and youth ministry within the inner city.

Pastor Houston joined Faith Tabernacle Church in 1978 and served faithfully his spiritual “father in the faith” the late Bishop Edward W. Lucas, D.D., founder of Faith Tabernacle Church.  Pastor Houston was ordained an Elder in the Church of God in Christ by the late Bishop C. L. Anderson Jr.  God led him to heed his call and Abundant Life Tabernacle was birthed November 29, 2001.  Pastor Houston serves as Superintendent in the Progressive District of Great Lakes First Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction.

Pastor Houston received a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Saint Augustine’s College in Raleigh, N.C. and is a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.  He then went on to receive a Master of Education Degree in School Administration from Wayne State University.  Pastor Houston attended William Tyndale Bible College.

He is the recipient of the “Booker T. Washington Distinguished Educator Award”.  Pastor Houston was recognized in 1991 as a Distinguished Educator by Governor John Engler.  Pastor Houston is a retired Principal of the Detroit Public Schools.

Pastor Houston is married to Evangelist Irene Houston, and the father of Deacon Michael (Erin) Houston; Missionary Brittany Houston; Deacon Marcus Houston, and the grandfather of Michael Anthony Houston.

He is the founder of the Pastor Anthony E. Houston Book Club.  His vision for ministry is expanding.  His greatest challenge is winning more souls for Jesus Christ.

Pastor Houston also offers online virtual ministry.  As a result of the 2020 Pandemic, Pastor Houston and Abundant Life Tabernacle church offers online membership for those who are unable to attend in the flesh church, according to Hebrews 10:25.
